Who are young children with developmental delays and disabilities?

Political, social, economical and cultural dimensions in conceptualization of childhood disability - international perspectives

National legislation for children with disabilities

WHO- International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health as conceptual framework

General and specific aspects of intervention

Assignment

Develop a paper where you:

- Use theoretical constructs to describe early childhood development as viewed in your country
- Describe the perception of disability, inclusion, participation, and quality of life in your country in the context of early childhood intervention, with particular emphasis on the socio-political context
- Compare the concepts, models and theoretical perspectives used in your country to those of another country. Discuss the differences and relate them to the socio-political context.

Field Assignments carried out at one participating university (not at the home university)

- Visit an early intervention program to determine the model used
- Interview two early interventionists and two parents of children with disabilities in regard to their views on intervention for their child.
